Little Kitten Vintage: Monday Musings :: Ahh... the age old debate

I was flipping through the Pottery Barn catalogue this past weekend, admiring all the vintage inspired pieces, when it occurred to me - why buy the reproduction when I can get the real thing on Etsy? Big names like Anthropologie and Pottery Barn may have their place when it comes to home decor and creative inspiration, but you simply cannot beat authentic vintage! A vintage piece is so beautiful because it has already lived a life before making its way to you. It is a treasure, a found object, coming from an authentic history, not a brand new show room.

I thought it would be fun to compare a few brand new Pottery Barn pieces with their authentic vintage counterparts. Turns out, buying the real thing is not always more expensive - often it costs LESS to buy the real thing instead of the reproduction! Not to mention, buying vintage is much better for the environment (recycling!). So which would you rather have?
